Pepper & Salt

In the kitchen of our village home,
Where earthen pots and dreams still roam,
You sprinkle salt, I crush the spice,
Together, love tastes pure and nice.

You hum a tune, the firelight gleams,
Steam curls softly around our dreams.
Pepper’s spark and salt’s embrace,
Two flavors blend — one tender space.

Your words are mild, your gaze is deep,
Where promises in silence sleep.
My temper burns, your calm replies,
Turn storms to peace beneath our skies.

In every meal, in every day,
Our hearts find flavor in this way.
For love’s not sweet, nor always mild,
It’s seasoned truth — both fierce and wild.

The market hums, the roosters call,
Life stirs slowly beyond our wall.
Yet here we stand — no grand design,
Just salt and pepper, yours and mine.

When gray hair comes like morning dew,
We’ll still taste life in all we do.
For love that lasts is never bland,
It grows with time, with heart and hand.

So let the world rush, fade, and spin,
Our spice remains — deep within.
Pepper and salt, both joy and pain,
Together we season life again.
